The picnic 2015-2016 was a great success, and now we’re off to a brand-new season. By now everyone has their new bird on the glove, and/or the old bird slimmed down and in flying shape. Many of us have been flying for a month now. A few of us are still out trapping, hoping to get that perfect falconry bird. Either way, good luck to everyone.
It was great to see all the new faces at the picnic this year, including Missouri’s youngest falconer. We missed seeing those of you who couldn’t make it, but our paths will cross again in the future. We made a lot of new friends. We hope to see you at the field meets this year as well as the other meetings we plan.
We raised more money on this year’s raffle than we did last year. Thank you to everyone who participated. A very special thank you goes out to all of the vendors who supported our efforts. Please look at our webpage. The logos you see belong to the companies that donated so generously to our raffle. You can show your appreciation by patronizing those who helped us.
As discussed at the meeting, we’re looking at bringing in a guest speaker this January. We hope that this will turn into a worthwhile educational experience for all Missouri falconers and perhaps even falconers from some of our neighboring states. Watch the website calendar for details.
The dates for the field meets are posted on the website calendar. Please mark those dates on your calendar and plan to be there. We’ll send out email notices closer to the dates that will specify the times and places for the hunts.
Remember to send your pictures to Tony. Let’s show the world what Missouri falconers are doing.
I look forward to seeing each and every one of you at the October meet. Good hawking!
